Welcome!

Dear Students, Families, and Community Members of Joseph H. Brown School,

Welcome to our school community! We are committed to fostering an inclusive, student-centered environment defined by academic excellence. Through a diverse range of curricular and extra-curricular offerings, we empower our students to engage in deep learning and critical thinking about the world around them.

At JH Brown School, we provide rich academic experiences—from mastering literacy through the “science of reading,” to exploring mathematics through real-world concepts. Our students approach social studies as a way to understand our history and prepare for the future, and they learn to lead as scientists, bringing the natural and physical world to life. All of our curricula are aligned to nationally recognized standards for ELA, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.

Beyond the classroom, we offer a well-rounded educational experience through specialist instruction in Art, Theater, Physical Education, Health, and Technology. These classes are designed to broaden students’ horizons and provide opportunities to explore new passions.

We are also proud of our vibrant school culture. Our partnership with Fox Chase Farm provides unique opportunities for students to engage with the natural environment, and our extracurricular programs—including Students Run Philly Style, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball—keep our students active and connected.

Additionally, We have before care (7:30am-9:00am) and after care (3:30pm-6:00pm) on site based on availability with our wonderful partners at YouthCOR.

We invite all students, families, and community partners to join us in continuing to innovate and ensure the success of every child. If you have questions or would like to discuss partnership opportunities, please email me directly at lzeller@philasd.org.

Sincerely,

Dr. Zeller

Principal
